Eh, I think a DCT better fits the Turbo, but yeah, it would be cool if they offered the 7-speed across the board.

I fully understand the advantages to a DCT in all aspects, however, 99% of the benefits are useless on the street. If I were buying this as a car that would see a decent amount of track time, the DCT would be justified, but the ability to change gears in 0.000328 seconds while helping to keep the turbos spooled with 95% efficiency means nothing when your going from stop light to stop light in 30 mph traffic, or even when your 'carving up' the local back roads. I still prefer to row my own gears on anything being driven on the street.

I dont know... All my cars are and have been manuals. I lust after a 997.2 GT3, but I find that the PDK suits the high-tech missile that is the 991 Turbo S. Especially since it'll be taken to the office on a daily basis where you'd sit for hours on end clutching in and out.
Although feeling that Turbo swooooshhh RUSH when upshifting and putting the pedal to the metal would be missing... hmmm...

Yea...
I've DD'd a DCT before. It was cool at first, the continual acceleration, lightning fast gear shift, rev matched down shifts...
After a while, shifting without a clutch becomes monotonous and you end up just leaving it in auto.
Then there are the rare times after that you put it in manual, get on the highway and go, get it into high gear and forget its there. As you come off the highway the car auto-downshifts, just like it would in auto mode, and you dont realize your still in manual mode until your bouncing off the rev-limiter in 1st.

Now I'm interested to know which car this was?
Great description by the way. I drove a 2012 BMW 135iM with the 7 Speed DCT for 12 months. I did use the paddles frequently though. Never forgot they were there. But I still agree with your overall takeback regarding non-manuals.

Second only to the new GT3 wheels.
